Technical Writer & Documentation Specialist
We are looking for a knowledgeable and meticulous Technical Writer and Documentation Specialist with expertise in mechanical engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining comprehensive documentation that clearly explains our mechanical products and systems to both technical and non-technical audiences.
The job:
- Develop, write, and update technical documentation such as user manuals, service manuals, installation guides, troubleshooting guides, and technical bulletins for mechanical products.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather technical information and understand documentation requirements.
- Translate complex mechanical concepts and processes into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Create and incorporate diagrams, schematics, and other visual aids to enhance the clarity of the documentation.
- Review and edit documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company standards.
- Maintain a documentation repository and manage version control to ensure the most current documents are accessible.
- Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to continuously improve the quality and usability of documentation.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and documentation for mechanical systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering field, Production Engineer, Technical designer or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in technical writing, specifically related to mechanical engineering or similar technical domains.
- Strong understanding of mechanical concepts, engineering principles, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with documentation tools such as: Word, Excel, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate documentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with 3D modeling software, interpret mechanical drawings and creating technical illustrations.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS).
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for mechanical products.
- Experience with SafeXpert
